Senior Weekend Fun!
In November, LMTI held a Senior Weekend event at YMCA Camp Mason where high school seniors from all over the state of New Jersey attended workshops and sessions to help them prepare for their senior year. They participated in workshops such as stress and time management, and utilized some of Camp Mason’s activities like a high ropes course and a hike to a Christmas Tree farm. In addition, they learned how to do all of this while remaining alcohol, tobacco, and other drug-free.
In July, LMTI held its 20th College Track Conference at Montclair State University. Approximately 30 students attended this conference to learn various skills and lessons that will help them thrive as they transition into their post-high school lives. Students left the conference feeling prepared and excited for their future endeavors, noting that they had gained a support system that would be with them every step of the way.
At the end of August, we kicked of our 30th anniversary year as a teen institute with our Summer Leadership Conference! There were over 250 young leaders and volunteers in attendance at the conference this year; it was five days full of presenters, workshops, activities, and fun! The participants developed action plans to combat alcohol, tobacco, and drug problems in their communities and learned the skills that will help them effectively implement those plans.
We have many fun and exciting plans for our 30th anniversary year which will be coming your way soon, the first of which is our Fall Reunion for our 2016 summer leadership conference participants.
